The vast, open plains of the pampas

30 de Agosto, Argentina: The vast, open plains of the Pampas is a glorious place to be – especially for the 540 cows at this tambo or dairy farm. They spend most of their time eating the green grass of these fertile fields. Twice a day the cows are rounded up for the slow walk to the milking yard, where 9,000 litres of milk is produced every day. Since the milk must be processed within a few hours of milking, reliable transport to the dairy plant is key. This is why the transport company RyD Cadierno has two Volvo VM 270 4X2 R trucks with I-Shift. Each truck has a 7,000 litres tank and 15,000 litres trailer tanker, collecting milk from six tambos every day. For driver Fabian Barbero, it’s all part of a good, wholesome day’s work.
